It Was Only a Matter of Time

I started out the morning – like many other weekend mornings lately – looking at boats for sale online. Investigating what specific boats are for sale is an addictive proces. On Yachtworld.com, you can narrow your search down to specific sizes, years and prices. I’m still don’t understand why Yachtworld doesn’t allow me to create a log in account and save favorite boats.

And then it happened. It was like having the two girls you had a crush on in high school getting married. Two Hallberg-Rassy 43’s (one was Cadence @ sailcadence.com) that I have been wanting to see and step onto their teak decks had sold within the past week.

Cadence is a 2003 Hallberg-Rassy 43 MkI with a hard dodger and loads of upgrades for ocean passages

We didn’t have the money or the commitment, yet, to move up to a bigger and more complicated boat. It was only a matter of time before these two excellent boats were sold. They would have both made excellent upgrades from Skyward, but we are content with what we have. Although, our broker showed Skyward to some potential buyers. We, mostly Rachel, worked at home on sewing new covers for our V-birth and aft cabin cushions.

Some people lament when I tell them we are using Sailrite on our cushions, but we made that choice partially based on the fact that we still have kids at home and therefore on the boat.

Later in the morning, I helped out a neighbor and friend use Zoom on their iPad. I have done this a few times for the same person. It is interesting to help elderly people to do a task that they’ve been shown how to do already.

After returning home I felt determined to bake something good to celebrate news of our son getting accepted into Purdue and also University of Utah this week. So I set out to make banana bread and chocolate chip cookies. It was a little eager on my part, but what else was I going to do with those brown bananas?
