Our A/C unit was draining condensate into the bilge, and so we installed a Mermaid Condensator. It was a relatively simple installation. The Mermaid Condensator uses a venturi design to create a vacuum to draw out the condensate. The flow of water from our Dometic seawater pump through the A/C unit provides the necessary motive force to create the vacuum and force condensate overboard instead of into our bilge.

We decided to install a small plastic collection bottle which the A/C condensate would drain into and which the Mermaid Condensator would pull from.

Here is what it looks like when it is all working just after installation:
Here is the overall systems diagram which shows the Mermaid Condensator on the water discharge from the A/C unit.

I have to do some re-design of my hot & cold ductwork to simplify it and change the unecessarily complicated plenum (“P”) with a diverter flap valve. Also, I need to change the location of the air intakes for the diesel heaters. These projects will go on the list.
