I’m joining some friends aboard Astra on the Salty Dawg Rally 2024. Astra is a Hallberg-Rassy 48, which is a boat designed after the HR46, like Skyward. The HR48 is different from the HR46 by inches in many dimensions; it is merely 2000 lbs heavier. This boat is, however, much newer than Skyward, and I am excited to be able to sail aboard this boat.
Based on the weather forecast, it is proposed that we leave 1 day earlier than planned. It therefore turns out that we will leave at 0700 on 31Oct2024. This will be my home for the next 10-12 days.
The plan is to punch across the Gulf Stream and then head due East towards Bermuda. We will analyze the weather once we are a hundred miles away from Bermuda and make the decision to stop and hold or to head South for Antigua. More to come on this trip!
