Fun Sights on the East River

We don’t always take the time to check out the sights when we’re on the East River. It is a time where we are normally intensely focused on traversing the waterway due to traffic, current and tricky spots. During our last trip down from Long Island Sound, we wanted to put together a short picture tour.

Here are some pictures that we took to try to give a neat perspective what it is like to travel down the East River by boat including some from the Lower Bay.

I have no idea what this artwork is supposed to represent on the waterfront side of the United Nations building. But it is definitely unique!

Look at how big this logo and pop (soda) bottle are compared to the people on the ground. Humans are so tiny. Pepsi even thought to include the “Trade Mark” part of the logo in their signage.

These people are checking out a skyline view of NYC from the Southern tip of Roosevelt Island. Humans look so tiny from the water on this massive landmark.

This is such a clear picture of a fishing boat barreling past us on the North side of Hell Gate.

I must go and eat there in Brooklyn. They only thing they are missing is a dock for pickup service.

Write this down: Go to Giardo Ristorante!

Looking back N / NW to the Chrysler and MetLife buildings perfectly framed by these (closer) vertical power generator vent stacks.

Cool building. Maybe it was designed by someone from Ohio?

This is must be one of the most secretive parking lots in the city

There is so much going on here. A FedEx truck making a delivery, someone on a scooter, etc. You could play I Spy with this picture!

A military Osprey flying overhead in NY Harbor. I see the pilots inside the cockpit.

I enjoyed seeing these photos from your sailing trip down the East River!! Most times you can capture greater pictures when viewing from afar rather than next to an object!!! You certainly captured some very neat photos of the area!!! Looking forward to stepping onto “Skyward” once again and absorb all of the beauty out there!!! Great pictures.
